DEPARTMENT: Tutoring Services

RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor, Tutoring Services

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Tutoring Lab Host will greet students/customers as they enter the lab, ensure they sign-in properly, thoroughly answer any questions, and then direct them to the appropriate personnel/resource. The Tutoring Lab Host will also closely monitor all activity within the center to ensure that all students are being properly attended to, and that the atmosphere within the center is professional and orderly at all times.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the lab, and complete various projects as needed according to guidance provided by the Tutoring Supervisors and Assistant Director. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 

 

  • Monitor activity within the Learning Center to ensure that all students/customers are being effectively serviced at all times
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for all students entering the Learning Center, making sure that they properly sign-in and are appropriately directed to the proper personnel/resource
  • Coordinate efforts with all staff tutors, Tutoring Supervisors, and/or the Assistant Director to meet students’ tutoring needs
  • Ensure a clean, organized professional/scholarly environment at all times
  • Assist management team with special projects as needed
  • Solicit feedback from students as they are leaving the Learning Center
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Successful completion of 30 college credit hours
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and/or general tutoring practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in a diverse community environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
