Description: Perform composite work on assigned aircraft or parts according to proper composite repair instructions or Engineering instructions. Assist in planning shop work flow ensuring proper tools, materials, publications and supplies are available. Provide support to Lead of the composite repair shop.
Duties: Primary Responsibilities
? Plan, organize, and assign work of composite technicians (in absence of Lead) to properly perform composite repairs in accordance with pertinent repair documentation, standard practices, drawings and blueprints.
? Perform work on a variety of composite panels to include damage assessment, material preparation, specialized equipment set-up & lay-up procedures.
? Control and monitor work flow according to schedules.
? Diagnose the cause of malfunctions, identify failures and determine corrective action to restore systems to required operating specifications and
standards.
? Perform required corrective action by making repairs, adjustments, replacements or overhaul.
? Perform work from blueprints, sketches, vendor and service manuals, and other source data to obtain dimensions, locations, alignment, tolerances
and other specification requirements. Verify own work and that of assigned technicians in accordance with the above.
? Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment in completing work assignments.
? Assure that completed work complies with FAA regulation, customer requirements, and company specifications.
? Coordinate with various departments regarding requirements for materials, supplies, equipment and job schedules.
? Complete forms and records pertaining to completion of assigned work.
? Maintain responsibility to keep scrap at minimum levels.
? Follow all OSHA, Safety and environmental regulation.

Qualifications: Education
HS diploma or equivalent. Some trade school desirable. A current A & P license is desired.
Experience
Minimum of six years experience in the repair or manufacture of composites. Must have the ability to provide basic leadership to lower level technicians.
Essential Functions
Requires ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modifications of plastic composite aircraft accessories. Requires knowledge of environmental factors relating to bonding chemicals used in composite fabrication. Requires the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat; and to operate various types of power tools. Must demonstrate the ability to provide basic leadership over the other composite repair technicians. Able to travel away from the facility to accomplish assigned tasks.
