POSITION SUMMARY

To manage the Pharmacy Information System (PIS) and its upgrades, integration with other systems, and on-going support ensuring appropriate security settings. To understand clinical and patient care issues and objectives of application systems and processes for departments supported. Under general direction, the IT Clinical Pharmacist will be a licensed pharmacist resource in support of the implementation of IT projects and initiatives. Pharmacist expertise and general facility operational knowledge is a critical part of building and maintaining the clinical application systems. Performs all other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy required. Pharm D from an accredited school of Pharmacy preferred.

Experience: Three years experience in pharmacy required. Two years experience using pharmacy application systems required. Three years hospital IT experience preferred. Experience with McKesson Horizon applications preferred.

License/Certification/Registries: Licensed with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy required. Project Management certification or defined path to completion preferred.

Skills: Must possess good analytical skills, basic Windows knowledge, and ability to manage projects. Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to execute responsibilities in a dynamic, sometimes stressful environment with frequently changing priorities. Ability to work with patients, physicians, employees, and visitors in a friendly and cordial manner, in person or on the phone, promoting a professional, positive image for the hospital. Ability to work unsupervised.
